Terminal Objective

 Learn the initial management of shock according to the stages and classification.

Learning Outcomes

  • Learn the general concepts associated with shock states, including physiologic response to shock, and shock progression.
  • Learn to Assess a patient who may be experiencing signs of shock.
  • Learn to attend competency in collaborative management of the patient experiencing shock based on interventions that optimize oxygen delivery and reduce oxygen consumption.
  • Understand  the use of pharmacotherapy in the management of shock states.
  • Learn cardiogenic, hypovolemic shock, obstructive, distributive shock including pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and management.
